El reciente y continuo flujo de migrantes y refugiados que están en tránsito hacia Europa está poniendo a prueba no solo las fronteras físicas de Europa sino también sus fronteras jurídicas, diplomáticas y de seguridad.

Un nuevo Comité Central fue elegido por la X Asamblea del CMI de entre sus delegados en noviembre de 2013. Actúa como principal órgano rector del CMI hasta la siguiente asamblea, reuniéndose cada dos años. Tiene la responsabilidad de la aplicación de las políticas adoptadas por la asamblea, examinar y supervisar los programas del CMI y su presupuesto.
